About Emily
My Mission
My Mission is to help others access their potential. We are all a few inches taller then we think we are. With Yoga, Personal Training and Massage we can access that fullness of ourselves. I would like to assist you in feeling grounded, connecting with your center, gaining more strength, flexibility and confidence. Massage, Yoga, and Personal Training open up pathways that have been blocked for so long. Through Massage Yoga and Personal Training I can help you UNlearn the repetitive movements that are causing you pain and replace them with movements that will give you stamina, efficiency and ease.
The human body has always fascinated me. I love being in my body, experimenting with how my body moves and what movements make me feel good and what movements bring discomfort. I love seeing all the variations of every one's bodies, how differently everyone moves and is built, but yet how similar. The transference of energy through human touch is a serious healing method. A simple hand on one's back can create healing and well-being. With my fascination with the body and transference of energy, I thought it would be wonderful to learn how to work with energy in a medical sense.
My Educational and Training Background
I attended the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy and Other Allied Sciences, earning an Associate's Degree in Occupational Studies, graduating in 2003.
As I was working as a Licensed Massage Therapist, I was practicing Yoga, and I realized that without Yoga, my body would be a mess. Understanding how important Yoga was in terms of helping my everyday activity be easier, I decided to become certified in Yoga. Now, I can pass on to others the useful knowledge of self care that has been saving my body, mind and spirit. I became certified by both the Integral Yoga Institute and the Karma Kids Yoga Institute in 2005.
As I was learning more practicing massage and yoga, I was incorporating more strength resistance and cardio vascular training, which lead me to attending the Advanced Personal Training Certification at the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy and Other Allied Sciences, graduating in 2007. Now I incorporate massage, yoga and personal training-techniques. Mixing and matching for what your needs are.
Always wanting to expand my knowledge and practice, I am in the process of my second year at the IM Healing Arts School.
